Entitled "Skills", this hybrid exhibition doesn’t close a chapter but leads us to the next chapters. L’Atlas has always refused to stand still and when he looks back, it is to better move forwards.
This first solo exhibition at the Speerstra Gallery in Paris brings French artist L’Atlas right back to his own beginnings in graffiti, whilst keeping his feet firmly planted in the present. In the background we see his mythical tag in fat cap, as witness to his passion that is still present. Super-imposed on that we see his unique talent for cryptograms applied with a gaffer, that sublimates the depth of past years. Among the fifteen or so canvases that make up the exhibition is a blind, remnant from 2008, that has been tagged and recomposed, beckoning us to look at the town in a more playful and enigmatic spirit. Just as one series leads to another, “Skills” elegantly reveals a return to the future, demonstrating that L’Atlas does not bow to the passage of time, on the contrary: he remains true to himself in what he does best, writing his own journey.
