Speerstra Gallery Paris - Laser 3.14 - Catch a dream and nurture it
Every dream is important, every dream is valuable, every dream has merit, even those that don’t come true. What matters is the spark and the will to journey, often backwards, in order to make our dreams come true. The greatest achievements succeeded thanks to the tenacity of dreamers. When we fail, we know we’ve tried. Nothing is worse than a wasted dream. Catch a dream and nurture it.
For the first time in Paris, graffiti artist Laser 3.14 exposes his poetry, sprayed for more than 15 years now through the city of Amsterdam where he comes from. In total anonymity, this passionate of words likes to be guided by his emotions, his life, the world around him, the times that changes, the manners of each other. His sentences, striking and simply tagged, bloom after dark, after long diurnal research to skim the most strategic spots. The passer-by then opens his eyes to bold statements, evoking both politics, popular culture, everyday life, such as urban and contemporary poetry writers of the 19th and 20th century.
Laser 3.14, who has been writing and painting since the 1980s, continues his literary enjoyment on recovered and accumulated media, intended to be presented in a gallery. Exhibited at The Hague Museum, the Stedelijk Museum, the Historical Museum of the City of Amsterdam, Laser 3.14 has also been awarded the PAX Peace Prize for its work in raising awareness of global stability.
